Newquay's luxury Surf Lodge

Newquay is a favourite destination for surfing holidays in Cornwall, and Fistral beach is possibly the most famous surfing mecca on the entire cornish peninsula.

Whether you want to be in Newquay for the world famous "Relentless boardmasters 2009" event, or just for your normal surfing getaway break, there are few locations with such an inspiring view directly over Fistral beach from the cliffs of the Pentire headland.

Surfing for beginners in Newquay

If you are a beginner to surfing or if you just want to brush up your techniques, you may want to try the Fistral Beach Surf School where they can rent you a board, and teach you the basics of surf safety, getting out the back, catching the wave, and staying on your feet. They do group courses or one to one lessons, and you can even check the surf conditions before you go out from the Fistral View Apartment.

Boardmasters Surf Competition 2009

If you want to come and see the best surfers in the world, the Relentless Boardmasters event is the place to be. This year it is on from the 5th to the 9th of August, and its centrepiece is the 5 Star Pro Men’s World Qualifying Series (WQS). In addition however there is skateboarding, BMX, FMX, Aerial Assault.

Fistral Beach Surf Conditions

You can view the surf conditions using one of Fistral Beach's many surf cams here, or of course from the window of the apartment. Other great beaches within easy access from your Newquay surf lodge include Crantock, Perranport, Constantine, and other prime surfing spots.

Kite surfing and other sports

If you want to try something a bit different there are also a ton of even more extreme sports available on your doorstep. Kite surfing has taken off in a big way in Newquay, as has power gliding, land buggying, land boarding. Each has dedicated professional instructors close by in Newquay, so if you're an anrenalin junkie you can try the most exiting new sports close at hand in perfect safety. Sailing and Scuba Diving courses are also available locally.

Getting away from it all

But remember up at Fistral View apartment you can see the surfing and other action, you can get to the beach in a couple of minutes, but you're far enough away to enjoy the views and the rest of the Cornish coast in peace at the same time.
